JPMorgan Chase’s brand-new global HQ at 270 Park Avenue isn’t just another skyscraper—it’s a major NYC landmark in the making.
This towering 60-story, 1,388-foot building opened in October 2025 and officially rises higher than the roofline of the Empire State Building.
Designed by world-renowned architects Foster + Partners, it replaces the historic Union Carbide Building that stood on the site for nearly 70 years.
The project also represents JPMorgan Chase’s long-term commitment to New York City, fitting for a company whose roots trace back to the iconic New York institutions J.P. Morgan & Co. and Chase Manhattan.
Here are the standout facts:
• It’s New York City’s largest steel structure and is the largest all-electric, net-zero emissions building in the city.
• It accommodates 10,000 employees with 2.5 million square feet of workspace.
• The interior includes state-of-the-art smart technology, advanced workplace infrastructure, a gym, an Irish pub, a food hall, and an “exchange” social space above the trading floors.
• The project created 8,000 construction jobs across 40 local unions.
• The tower features five newly commissioned artworks, adding to the bank’s distinguished art collection.
• The entire building sits directly above active Metro-North train tracks, requiring unusually complex engineering.
In a city known for bold architecture and even bolder statements, this building sets a new standard.
