Did you know that the first event held at the original Madison Square Garden, also known as the "Garden" or "MSG," was a boxing match between James J. Corbett and Joe S. Walcott on March 17, 1876. The arena was located on Madison Square in Manhattan, New York City. The first event at the grand opening of the “New Garden”  in 1968,  featured performances by celebrities like Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. One of the most iconic milestones is the record for the most consecutive sold-out shows, held by none other than Billy Joel. Billy Joel closed out his historic 10-year residency at Madison Square Garden last July with his 150th performance, marking the biggest arena run of all time at the venue. The Piano Man, a New York native, first played at MSG on December 24, 1978, and began his record-breaking residency in January 2014. Just one year later, he set the record for the most consecutive performances by any artist at The Garden, solidifying his legendary status.

Celebrate this incredible milestone in MSG history!
